Nationwide Cooking Gas Prices Soar Amid Supply Shortage

Cooking gas prices have skyrocketed nationwide due to a scarcity of Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) in major Nigerian cities like Lagos, Ogun, and Ibadan. The shortage is primarily attributed to an oil worker strike that has disrupted gas supply across the country.

The strike by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) led to rationing and stock depletion, causing prices to surge. In Abuja, the cost of refilling a gas cylinder has significantly increased, with prices varying across locations.

The scarcity has also affected commercial districts like Wuse, Garki, and Kubwa, where retailers have raised prices due to the limited availability of cooking gas.
