FRSC Proposes Cycling Lanes to Combat Traffic Congestion

Shehu Mohammed, the Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), renewed his call for the establishment of dedicated cycling lanes across Nigeria. This appeal was made during the World Bicycle Day celebration, which had the theme "Boost Urban Life through Bicycling," held at the FRSC headquarters in Abuja.

Mohammed emphasized that promoting bicycle transport would not only reduce pressure on the nation's busy highways but would also significantly contribute to reducing road traffic crashes and improving overall safety on Nigerian roads. He noted the importance of urban planning that accommodates cyclists, highlighting that cycling plays a vital role in creating healthier, sustainable, and efficient cities.

The FRSC boss urged policymakers to integrate cycling infrastructure into the nation's transport development plans.
