Corps Member Abdulsamad Jamiu Killed in Abuja Robbery

On April 25, 2026, Abdulsamad Jamiu, a member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), was tragically killed in a crossfire during a robbery incident in Abuja, specifically at Shagari Estate in the Dei-Dei area of the Federal Capital Territory. The Nigerian Army confirmed his death through Lt.

Olawuyi Odunola, the Assistant Director of Army Public Relations at the Guard Brigade. The incident occurred in the early hours when troops from the Guard Brigade's Quick Response Group were conducting routine night patrols in response to a distress call regarding an armed robbery.

Upon arrival, the troops encountered gunfire from the fleeing robbers, resulting in a brief exchange of fire during which Mr. Jamiu was caught in the crossfire.

Despite efforts to secure the area and preserve lives, he succumbed to his injuries. The Nigerian Army expressed deep sorrow over the loss and assured that a thorough investigation would be conducted to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The deceased's remains were deposited at Kubwa General Hospital.
