Mother of Slain Corps Member Demands Justice for Son

Habiba Abubakar, mother of slain National Youth Service Corps member Abdulsamad Jamiu, shared her harrowing experience following her son's death on April 25, 2026, in Dei Dei, Abuja. She received a frantic call from a neighbor alerting her to gunfire in the area while she was away for a burial ceremony.

Upon returning, she discovered her son had been shot. The Nigerian Army claimed Jamiu was caught in crossfire during a response to a robbery, but the family rejected this narrative, asserting that no weapons were found and that the bullet trajectory indicated he was shot from outside his room.

The family demands an independent investigation and a formal apology from the military, which they accuse of misleading the public and violating its mandate to protect citizens.
