Soldier Mistakenly Kills Corps Member in Nasarawa State

Jamiu, a civil engineering graduate from the Federal University of Technology, Minna, was killed by soldiers in the early hours of Saturday in Karu Local Government Area, Nasarawa State, just one month before completing his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). His cousin, Yusuf Enesi Adeiza, described Jamiu as disciplined and focused, with plans to join the Nigerian Army.

On the night of the incident, Jamiu's sister, Farida, heard gunshots and rushed to his room, where she found him dead from a gunshot wound to the head. The soldiers claimed they were pursuing a suspect and mistakenly shot Jamiu, but the family insists there was no robbery in the area.

Jimoh, Jamiu's father, has demanded justice and accountability from the soldiers, who admitted to the mistake but have not faced consequences. The family is seeking to bury Jamiu according to Islamic rites and has called for an investigation into the incident.
