Atiku Abubakar Critiques Tinubu's Economic Reforms

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar criticized President Bola Tinubu's economic reforms, stating they distort Nigeria's reform history and contribute to an unbearable cost of living. In a statement issued by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication, Phrank Shaibu, Atiku described Tinubu's recent remarks as reckless and hypocritical.

He highlighted the struggles faced by ordinary Nigerians, including skipping meals and businesses shutting down due to relentless inflation and collapsing purchasing power. Atiku dismissed Tinubu's privatization claims, arguing they lack scrutiny and transparency, and pointed out that he has long advocated for privatization of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.

He cited successful privatization examples, such as Oando PLC and Conoil PLC, to support his stance. Furthermore, Atiku criticized Tinubu's understanding of Nigeria's economic reform history, suggesting that the president's comments reflect deeper leadership issues and a failure to engage with documented accounts of past reforms.
