Bauchi Commissioner Yakubu Adamu's Terrorism Trial Adjourned

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Moham Umar, has indefinitely adjourned the terrorism financing trial of Yakubu Adamu, the Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance. This decision follows a request from the prosecution to transfer the case, which Justice Umar disclosed after expressing discomfort with handling the matter.

The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice John Tsoho, has yet to respond to the prosecution's letter regarding the transfer. Defense counsel Chris Uch, SAN, voiced shock at the developments, arguing that the prosecution's failure to notify the defense of the transfer request undermines their rights.

The court was urged to release Adamu's passport for travel purposes related to the Hajj. Adamu, alongside other defendants, was earlier arraigned on December 31, 2025, and pleaded not guilty to charges of financing terrorism, with the trial initially set to commence on January 13, 2026.

The case has now been adjourned until February 26, 2026.
