Court Adjourns El-Rufai's Suit Against ICPC to March 25

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, has adjourned the fundamental rights enforcement suit filed by former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai against the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) until March 25. The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/345/2026 and filed on February 20, seeks N1 billion in damages for alleged violations of El-Rufai's fundamental rights during a search conducted by the ICPC at his residence on February 19.

El-Rufai claims the search, which was executed with a warrant issued on February 18, violated his rights to dignity, privacy, and fair hearing as guaranteed by Sections 34, 35, 36, and 37 of the Nigerian Constitution. The ICPC, represented by its counsel, argued that the search was lawful and necessary for an ongoing investigation.

The court has ordered the adjournment to allow the parties to regularize their processes.
