Court Adjourns Leadership Suit Against David Mark Indefinitely

The Federal High Court in Abuja has adjourned indefinitely a leadership suit against David Mark, the leader of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The adjournment was announced after the plaintiff's counsel, Luka Musa Haruna, submitted an application requesting the case to be reassigned to a different judge.

This request follows a Supreme Court ruling on April 30, 2026, which dismissed an interlocutory appeal filed by David Mark, nullifying the earlier court's order to stay proceedings on the substantive suit. The plaintiff's counsel disclosed that a written request was made to the Chief Judge on May 4, 2026, to transfer the matter.

However, the defense counsel opposed this request, accusing the plaintiff of attempting to delay the hearing. The case has been adjourned sine die to allow the parties to file certified true copies of the Supreme Court judgment and to await further directives from the Chief Judge.
