Legal Setback as Kanu's Defense Team Abruptly Withdraws in Terrorism Trial

In a legal setback for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, his defense team led by former Attorney General of the Federation, Kanu Agabi SAN, abruptly withdrew from the case. Kanu was set to open his defense in the terrorism trial, but his entire senior legal team, including Onyechi Ikpeazu, Joseph Akubo, Paul Erokoro, and Emeka Etiaba, withdrew.

Kanu confirmed the sacking of his lawyers and expressed readiness to represent himself. The presiding judge, Justice James Omotosho, directed the remaining legal team members to vacate the courtroom, allowing Kanu to begin his defense.

The proceedings were adjourned to allow Kanu time to prepare.
