Court Adjourns APC Primary Challenge in Taraba to July 2026

The Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Taraba, has adjourned a suit challenging the conduct of the APC primary elections for the Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency until July 15, 2026. The presiding judge, Justice Mashkur Salisu, announced the adjournment following an application filed by Hon. Princ Tafida Aba, a member representing the Jalingo, Yorro, Zing Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Hon. Princess Leah Olusiyi Solomon approached the court to challenge the primary election's conduct, alleging it produced an incumbent House of Representatives member, Hon. Princ Tafida Aba, as the party's candidate for the 2027 general elections. Solomon's party's primary election was claimed not to have been conducted constitutionally, prompting her to request the court to nullify its outcome.

During the proceedings, counsel for the APC, Hon. Tafida Aba, filed a motion seeking the court's permission to join the suit as a defendant, which was not opposed by the plaintiff's counsel, Barr. Long Lugnan Takdok.
