Gombe Court Adjourns APC Primary Dispute to July 2026

The Federal High Court in Gombe has adjourned the lawsuit concerning the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election for Gombe South to July 22, 2026. The case was presided over by Justice Amina Aliyu, who heard the suit filed by Hon.

Bilyaminu Babadidi against the APC, Jerri Joseph Damara, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Babadidi is seeking to nullify Damara's emergence as the APC's senatorial candidate for Gombe South.

During the trial, the claimant called four witnesses and presented several documents as evidence, claiming that no APC primary election took place at the polling unit and local government level. Allegations were made regarding electoral officials and the deployment of voting materials.

The APC's appeal committee reportedly took no action on the complaint. Rabilu Musa, identified as the chairman of the party's national primary election committee, testified that the APC conducted its senatorial primary across Gombe State, including Gombe South, on May 18, 2026.

However, during cross-examination, Musa admitted that the voter register was not tendered as evidence in court.
