Trial of Nnewi Native Doctor Adjourned Due to Ill Health

The trial of Ikechukwu Ezenagu, a native doctor popularly known as Mmuo Mmili Afulu Anya, was adjourned on Friday due to allegations of ill health. Ezenagu appeared frail at the Anambra State High Court in Awka, prompting Justice Jude Obiora to find him unfit to proceed with the trial.

The case has been adjourned to June 3, 2023, to allow Ezenagu to attend to his health issues. The defense, led by Kingsley Awuka, argued that despite Ezenagu's condition, the case should continue, emphasizing the need for urgent medical attention for their client.

Anambra State Attorney General Tobechukwu Nweke, representing the prosecution, stated that the government is ready to continue prosecuting the case. Ezenagu was previously arrested by the state government's security outfit, Agunechemba, for allegedly violating homeland security laws by luring young men and women with promises of quick wealth through rituals.
