Court Confirms Oyebanji as APC Candidate for 2026 Election

On Wednesday, the Federal High Court delivered a judgment reaffirming Biodun Oyebanji as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the upcoming 2026 Ekiti governorship election. The court's decision came in response to a suit that challenged Oyebanji's emergence as the APC candidate.

Oyebanji was confirmed as the sole candidate after other contenders, including Atinuk Oluremi and Omolayo, either withdrew or failed to meet the party's requirements. The APC's internal guidelines and the Electoral Act of 2022 facilitated Oyebanji's candidacy, which was supported by 885 delegates from 177 wards across the state.

The court's ruling reflects the party's consensus on Oyebanji's leadership and the need to sustain the developmental strides made during his administration. The decision was backed by the APC's leadership, including Senate leaders and the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, emphasizing the party's discipline and the trust of the people in Oyebanji's leadership style.
