Appeal Court Confirms Dr. Oluyede as PDP Candidate

On Thursday, the Appeal Court delivered a unanimous judgment affirming Dr. Wole Oluyede as the candidate of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2026 Ekiti State governorship election.

The three-member panel, which included Justice Peter Chudi Obiorah, Justice Jane Esienanwan, and Justice Peter O. Affen, set aside an earlier ruling by the Federal High Court in Ado Ekiti that had nullified the PDP's primary election held on November 8-9, 2025.

The court confirmed that the primary election was validly conducted in compliance with the party's constitution and the provisions of the Electoral Act. The PDP had filed an appeal against the January 13, 2026, ruling of the Federal High Court, which had declared the primary election invalid.

The Appeal Court's decision allows the PDP to proceed with Dr. Oluyede as its candidate, resolving the leadership and candidacy disputes as the party prepares for the upcoming election.
