Court Conducts Trial-Within-Trial for 2011 UN House Bombing Suspects

The Federal High Court in Abuja has initiated a trial-within-trial for suspects connected to the 2011 United Nations House bombing in Abuja, where 20 Nigerians lost their lives and 70 others were injured. The trial aims to ascertain the voluntariness of statements made by the suspects to the Department of State Services (DSS).

Khalid al Barnawi, the alleged mastermind of the bombing, was arrested in 2016 in Lokoja, Kogi State, with the DSS accusing him of leading a faction of Boko Haram known as Ansaru.
