Nigerian Court Orders FCTA Workers to Halt Strike Amid Legal Dispute

The Industrial Court of Nigeria in Abuja has issued an interlocutory injunction compelling members of the Joint Union Action Committee (JUAC) of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) to immediately suspend their ongoing strike. The court ruled in favor of the FCT Minister and FCTA against JUAC's chairman, Rifkatu Iortyer, and secretary, Abdullahi Umar Saleh.

The court clarified that the dispute constituted a trade matter and that the union's industrial action was no longer legally sustainable. The injunction will remain in force pending the determination of the substantive suit.

The workers are required to cease their strike action and await the court's judgment. The case has been adjourned until March 23, 2026, for the hearing of substantive issues.
