Court Grants Wike's Request, Orders FCT Workers to Suspend Strike

The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) workers' joint union action committee has been ordered by the court to suspend their ongoing strike following a request from Governor Nyesom Wike. The Federal Capital Territory Administration and the joint union action committee, represented by Rifkatu Iortyer and Abdullahi Umar Saleh, were involved in the legal proceedings.

The court granted an interim injunction sought by the claimant to restrain the workers from industrial action. The court emphasized that while workers have the right to strike, it must meet legal conditions.

The matter has been adjourned until March 23, 2026, for further hearings. The strike tension escalated after aggrieved workers protested unresolved welfare and salary issues to Governor Wike.

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has directed significant court appearances amidst the ongoing indefinite strike.
