Court Discharges Oduah, Aide in ₦2.5 Billion Fraud Case

On Thursday, a high court in Maitama discharged former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah and her aide Gloria Odita from a ₦2.5 billion fraud case. The Attorney General of the Federation, Hamza Muazu, issued the order after the prosecution, represented by Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, informed the court of a plea bargain and requested to discontinue the case against the two defendants.

The prosecution amended the charges, removing Oduah and Odita's names and instead listing two companies allegedly linked to Oduah. Sobora International Limited was accused of unlawfully possessing ₦838 million, while Global Offshore Marine Limited was accused of unlawfully possessing ₦1.629 billion.

The court subsequently convicted the companies based on a guilty plea and ordered the forfeiture of ₦1.2 billion to the federal government, along with ₦780 million recovered during the investigation. The earlier charges against Oduah and Odita were struck out, with the case date set for October 13, 2025.
