CSO Supports FG's Plea Bargain in Oduah Fraud Case

The Civil Society Organization (CSO) has expressed support for the Federal Government's plea bargain in the N2.5 billion fraud case involving Stella Oduah, a former minister. Last week, Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court discharged Oduah and Gloria Odita, a former aide, as the prosecution announced the discontinuation of the case against them following a plea bargain.

This arrangement was confirmed to facilitate the recovery of alleged proceeds from the fraud. Jude Ochiaga, representing the CSO, emphasized the importance of preserving judicial time and reducing prolonged litigation costs while ensuring public interest is protected.

The Attorney General of the Federation is pursuing resolutions that reflect efficient judicial procedures. The court's docket remains heavily burdened, and the plea bargain is seen as a transparent management tool to redirect scarce judicial resources towards pressing national cases.
