Court Discharges Stella Oduah After Fund Restitution

On Thursday, the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, discharged former Aviation Minister Stella Oduah following the restitution of funds to the Federal Government. Justice Hamza Muazu struck out the charges against Oduah and her co-defendant, Gloria Odita, after the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, confirmed the recovery of the alleged proceeds.

The charges were set for a hearing on October 13, 2025. Oyedepo instructed the Attorney General of the Federation to confirm the receipt of the funds related to the charges.

The prosecution amended the charges to reflect two companies, Sobora International Limited and Global Offshore Marine Limited, which were implicated in the case. Oduah's counsel, Onyechi Ikpeazu, and Odita's counsel, Wale Balogun, urged the court to withdraw the charges.

However, Oyedepo maintained that the former defendants represented the companies for the purpose of the plea. The companies faced charges of border fraud, with Sobora International Limited allegedly possessing N838 million and Global Offshore Marine Limited N1.629 billion, suspected to be illegally obtained.
