Stella Oduah Offers to Return ₦2.5bn in Fraud Case

Stella Oduah, the former Minister of Aviation, has indicated her willingness to return funds allegedly taken from government coffers as part of efforts to resolve an ongoing ₦2.5 billion fraud case. This development emerged during proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

The court was informed by Rotimi Oyedepo, the director of public prosecutions, that the defense has approached the Attorney General's office to discuss a potential plea agreement, which may include the return of the misappropriated funds. The defense team, led by Onyechi Ikpeazu, is currently negotiating with the prosecution to explore options for settling the case without prolonging the trial.

The court, presided over by Justice Hamza Muazu, has adjourned the matter until March 26, when an update on the plea bargain discussions is expected. Oduah and her co-defendant, Gloria Odita, face charges of financial misconduct related to funds allegedly obtained under false pretenses during Oduah's tenure as minister.
