Court Dismisses Suit Against Senator Ireti Kingibe

On March 10, 2023, the Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Peter Lifu, dismissed a suit that sought to prevent Senator Ireti Kingibe from engaging in activities of the African Democratic Congress (ADC). The plaintiffs, represented by Kolawole Olowooker, included Okezuo Godfrei, Anayo Ojonugwa, and Samuel, who claimed that Kingibe was suspended by the Wuse Ward Executive due to alleged anti-party activities.

They sought an interim injunction to restrain Kingibe from acting as a member of the ADC pending the resolution of the case. Justice Lifu ruled that the matter pertained to the internal affairs of the ADC and did not warrant court intervention.

He deemed the suit frivolous and baseless, questioning the plaintiffs' motives for rushing to court. Consequently, he imposed a fine of N10 million on the plaintiffs, payable to Senator Kingibe.
