Court Dismisses Suit Against ADC Leadership by Abejide

On Thursday, Justice Musa Liman of the Federal High Court in Abuja dismissed a suit filed by Hon. Leke Abejide, a member of the Kogi State House of Representatives, against the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by Senator David Mark. The court ruled that the case, which challenged the legitimacy of Mark's leadership and sought to void it, was a matter of internal party affairs and therefore not justiciable.

Justice Liman noted that Abejide lacked the legal standing to institute the suit, as he failed to demonstrate any violation of rights concerning the Mark-led leadership. Additionally, the court found that the transfer of leadership from Ralph Nwosu to David Mark did not contravene the ADC constitution.

The court awarded costs of N2 million in favor of the defendants against Abejide, who was ordered to pay N10 million in costs pursuant to the provisions of the Electoral Act 2026.
