Gombe Court Schedules Hearing for PDP, INEC Suit

The Federal High Court in Gombe has set July 9, 2026, for a hearing on a suit involving the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The suit was filed by Usman Aliyu Garri against the PDP and INEC concerning the governorship candidacy of Prof.

Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami. The court has issued a notice for the parties to appear with documentary evidence to support their cases and warned that failure to present evidence at the appropriate stage may bar them from doing so later, except under specific terms including payment of substantial costs.

The court also advised the parties to ensure timely service of summons for witnesses. The nature of the dispute in Aliyu's suit has not been disclosed, but the matter is expected to attract significant political interest as the PDP prepares for the 2027 governorship elections in Gombe State.

Additionally, Justice Amina Aliyu Moham has adjourned a pre-election suit challenging the emergence of Prof. Pantami as the PDP's governorship candidate.
