Court Reserves Judgment on Pantami's Gombe Candidacy Suit

The Federal High Court in Gombe has reserved judgment in a lawsuit contesting the candidacy of Isa Pantami for the People's Democratic Party (PDP) governorship primary for the 2027 elections. The case was brought by Khamisu Mailantarki, who argued that the primary process was flawed and that Pantami was not a registered member of the PDP at the time the primary elections were held.

Mailantarki's lawyer, Mustapha Ibrahim, stated that the suit aims to nullify the May 26 primary and compel the PDP to conduct a fresh primary involving eligible aspirants. The court, presided over by Justice Amina Aliyu, heard arguments from both sides and announced that a judgment date would be set later.

Kamaldeen Ajibade, representing the PDP, confirmed that there are three pre-election cases against the party. The court has adjourned the case until July 23, when it will determine the validity of the PDP's governorship primary in Gombe.
