Court Allows Rivers State LG Election to Proceed

The Rivers State High Court in Port Harcourt ruled that the local government election scheduled for Saturday will proceed as planned, dismissing a motion seeking to halt the exercise. The court granted a motion for substituted service to the defendant and adjourned the substantive case to a later date.

The legal challenge was based on the alleged role of President Bola Tinubu in appointing the chairman and members of the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.
