Atiku Abubakar Wins Court Motion to Serve Tinubu via APC

On September 17, the Federal High Court in Abuja granted an application by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), allowing him to serve court documents on President Bola Tinubu through the All Progressives Congress (APC). Justice Inyang Ekwo ruled on an ex parte motion presented by Atiku’s counsel, O.T.

Omotayo-Ojo, who sought an order for substituted service due to difficulties in serving the documents directly to Tinubu. Atiku and the ADC filed a suit to disqualify Tinubu and the APC from participating in the 2027 presidential election, alleging that the APC submitted a forged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The originating summons, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1888/2026, names Tinubu, APC, and INEC as defendants. The court ordered that service be completed within seven days and adjourned the matter until September 28 for mention.
