Court Orders Final Forfeiture of N3.44bn Linked to NNPC MD

On March 31, 2026, Justice J.O. Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja granted a final forfeiture order for N3,444,000,000 (three billion four hundred forty-four million naira) and three properties linked to Salihu Nuhu Jamari, the Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had filed a motion on March 17, 2026, leading to this ruling. The properties included an incomplete six-bedroom semi-detached duplex in Asokoro, a two-bedroom flat in Ikoyi, Lagos, and a restaurant in Lokogoma, Abuja.

The court's decision followed an interim forfeiture order granted on February 25, 2026, after the EFCC presented evidence of Jamari's involvement in a conspiracy involving kickbacks and money laundering related to contracts awarded to three contractors for major NNPC projects. The case highlights significant issues of corruption within the NNPC.
