Court Orders Final Forfeiture of ₦1.9 Billion from Ex-AGF

On March 29, 2026, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja ruled for the final forfeiture of assets valued at ₦1.9 billion linked to former Attorney General of the Federation, Chukwunyer Anamekw Nwabuoku. The court granted an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) seeking the confiscation of assets traced to Nwabuoku, who was previously convicted on March 23, 2026, on nine counts of money laundering and abuse of office.

The forfeited assets include cash amounting to ₦288,590,749 and a luxury five-bedroom duplex located at No. 20 Citi Gate Estate, Kukwaba, Abuja. Additionally, stock shares acquired by Nwabuoku in several companies, valued at ₦1,941,805,342, were also ordered to be forfeited.

The court found that these assets constituted proceeds of unlawful activities, leading to the permanent forfeiture to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
