FCT High Court Grants Abubakar Malami Interim Bail in EFCC Case

The FCT High Court has granted former Attorney General Abubakar Malami interim bail in a case related to economic and financial crimes involving the EFCC. Justice Bello Kawu approved the bail application, requiring Malami to surrender his international passport and provide two sureties, including the Director-General of the Nigerian Legal Aid Council and a member of the House of Representatives.

The court set January 5, 2026, for the hearing. Malami was detained by the EFCC on December 8 on allegations of border terror financing and mishandling the recovery of $322.5 million Abacha loot.
