Court Blocks ADC from Replacing Kebbi Candidate Fakai

The Federal High Court in Abuja issued an order preventing the African Democratic Congress (ADC) from replacing Abubakar Sadiq Sa’adu Fakai as its candidate for the Zuru/Fakai/Danko Wasagu/Sakaba Federal Constituency in Kebbi State. This order followed a suit filed by Fakai, who contended that he was the legitimate ADC candidate after winning an earlier primary election, with his name submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Fakai argued that he had not formally withdrawn from the race and challenged the ADC's decision to conduct another primary to replace him with Bashar Sulaiman Bajida. The case was filed on August 14, 2026, and the court scheduled a hearing for September 8, 2026.

The court directed that all parties maintain the status quo, meaning Fakai's name will remain on the INEC portal as the ADC candidate pending the legal resolution. Fakai urged his supporters to remain calm and expressed confidence in a lawful resolution.
