Emmanuel Nwude Sentenced for Forgery and Fraud

Emmanuel Nwude, a notorious fraudster, along with lawyers Emmanuel Ilechukwu and Rowland Kalu, was sentenced to one year in prison for forgery and dealing in forfeited property by Justice Mojisola Dada at the Special Offences Court in Ikeja, Lagos. The conviction stemmed from a case initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on March 2, 2018, involving 15 counts of conspiracy, forgery, and attempts to pervert the course of justice.

The court found them guilty on multiple counts while acquitting them on two counts related to making false statements to a public officer. The trial included testimonies from five witnesses and numerous documents presented as evidence.

The case was adjourned multiple times, with the final judgment delivered on a Wednesday. The EFCC's investigation began in July 2017, leading to the arraignment of Nwude and others for offenses related to obtaining money under false pretenses.
