Obiajulu Emmanuel Sentenced to One Year for $850,000 Fraud

Obiajulu Emmanuel was sentenced to one year in prison by the Lagos State High Court sitting in Ikeja on March 9, 2026, after being found guilty of fraud involving $850,000. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) prosecuted Emmanuel, who was first arraigned on November 10, 2025, on 21 counts of advance fee fraud related to the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2006.

The case stemmed from a petition by Taeko Omomo, who sought to establish a company named First Unspeak Grace Ltd for acquiring land and developing property for profit. The court also upheld the forfeiture of three properties belonging to the victim, as ordered by a previous ruling from the Federal High Court.

Emmanuel's imprisonment follows a series of legal proceedings, and the EFCC had earlier arraigned four staff members linked to God's Touch Apart Hotel in a separate fraud case.
