Kebbi State Court Sentences Man to 5 Years for Attempted Rape of 10-Year-Old

The Kebbi State High Court has sentenced Ibrahim Isah Zuru from Zuru Local Government Area to five years in prison for attempting to rape a 10-year-old girl. The judgment was delivered by Justice Maryam Abubakar Kaoj, who found Zuru guilty of the offense punishable under Section 58 of the Kebbi State Penal Code Law 2021.

Initially charged with two counts of rape and gross indecency, the court determined that the evidence did not establish the full offense of rape. The prosecution, led by Lawal Hudu Garba San, presented five witnesses and three exhibits, including Zuru's confession statement.

Zuru was convicted of attempting to commit rape and fined N50,000 in addition to the five-year jail term.
