Kwara Court Sentences Three to Death for Robbery and Kidnapping in Landmark Judgment

The Kwara State High Court in Ilorin has sentenced three individuals, Patrick Afedia, Adam Tijani, and Usman Ahm Muhammad, to death by hanging for their involvement in offenses including armed robbery, rape, and kidnapping. The crimes were committed against Mr.

Olubunmi Komolafe, Mrs. Adeola Morenikeji, and others in Ilorin, Kwara State.

The trial judge, Justice Funsho Lawal, handed down the judgment, revealing that the convicted individuals were found guilty of various charges, including conspiracy, rape, armed robbery, and kidnapping. The crimes took place on June 15, 2025, in Kangil Village via Kulend area in Ilorin.

The court found the defendants guilty of holding victims hostage, demanding a ransom of five million naira, and committing violent acts. The judgment also disclosed details of the demand for ransom and the withdrawal of money from the victims' accounts.

The defendants have the right to appeal the judgment within the stipulated time. The prosecution successfully proved the case of rape beyond a reasonable doubt, leading to the convictions.
