Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Concealing Bandit Info

On January 9, 2023, Muhammad Sani, a male from Nabi Village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, was convicted by the Federal High Court in Abuja for his involvement in concealing information regarding notorious bandit Danranmi. The court found Sani guilty on four counts related to terrorism offenses under the Terrorism Prevention Prohibition Act of 2022.

The charges included conspiracy to conceal information about Danranmi, who was known for supplying arms and ammunition to kidnappers in Niger State. Sani was also found to have received 580,000 Naira to purchase ammunition, which he believed would be used for terrorist activities.

Justice Nwite sentenced Sani to 20 years in prison without the option of a fine, effective from the date of his arrest on January 11, 2023. This conviction is part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat banditry and terrorism financing in Nigeria.
