Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Aiding Notorious Bandit

On January 9, 2023, Muhammad Sani, a male from Nabi village in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State, was convicted by a Federal High Court in Abuja for multiple offenses related to terrorism. The court found him guilty of conspiring to conceal information about notorious bandit Danranmi, who was involved in supplying arms and committing kidnappings in Niger State.

Sani was charged with four counts under the Terrorism Prevention Prohibition Act of 2022. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison without the option of a fine, with the sentence taking effect from his arrest on January 11, 2023.

The court's decision was part of ongoing efforts by security agencies to combat banditry and terrorism financing in Nigeria. Sani is to serve his term at Kuje Correctional Centre in Abuja.
