Court Orders Forfeiture of Aisha Achimugu’s N8.9 Billion

On Thursday, a Federal High Court in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, presided over by Justice Jude Onwuegbuzi, issued a final forfeiture order for assets valued at N8.9 billion belonging to businesswoman Aisha Achimugu. The order was a result of an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which sought the permanent forfeiture of the assets after previously obtaining an interim forfeiture order.

The court's judgment grants the EFCC the authority to forfeit properties, including high-value cash holdings, that are allegedly connected to Achimugu's assets. This ruling is part of the EFCC's ongoing efforts to recover assets suspected to be proceeds of unlawful activities through civil forfeiture proceedings.
