Nigerian Court Orders Interim Forfeiture of N1.1bn Linked to Kano State Government in ICPC Probe

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the interim forfeiture of N1.1 billion suspected to be linked to the Kano State Government in an ICPC investigation. The funds were allegedly unlawfully withdrawn from the state's account and diverted for unrelated government businesses.

The court granted the forfeiture order following an ex parte application by the ICPC. The investigation revealed suspicious transactions involving the transfer of funds to bureau de change operators and disguised payments for diesel supplies.

The court has directed the publication of the forfeiture order and set a compliance report deadline for interested parties to show cause.
