Court Remands Terrorism Suspect Muhammad Ibrahim Until November

On October 9, 2026, a Federal High Court in Abuja ordered the remand of Muhammad Ibrahim, a terrorism suspect, at the Kuje Correctional Centre until November 16, 2026, when his trial is set to begin. Ibrahim was arraigned by the Department of State Services (DSS) on four counts, including terrorism-related activities, unlawful possession and transportation of ammunition, failure to disclose information about gun-running activities, and identity fraud.
The DSS alleges that in February 2025, Ibrahim conveyed 170 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition concealed in a cooler to Imrana Halilu in Dankama village, Katsina State. He is also accused of providing logistical support to terrorist groups and failing to report gun-running activities to law enforcement.
Additionally, Ibrahim, described as a Nigerien citizen, allegedly fraudulently obtained a Nigerian National Identity Management Commission identity card linked to a National Identification Number (NIN). These charges violate the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
Justice Salim Ibrahim presided over the case and adjourned it for trial commencement.
