Nigerian Government Trains 700 Youths in Oyo State

The Nigerian government completed a 10-day skills training and empowerment program in Oyo State, graduating 700 young Nigerians on October 9, 2026. This initiative, part of the National Poverty Reduction with Growth Strategy (NPRGS), began on September 28 and was managed by the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Education (OSSAP-TVEE).
The program aimed to equip participants with vocational training, digital tools, and business starter kits. Among the graduates, 30 received training in Artificial Intelligence and Graphic Design, while 85 were trained in Makeup Artistry and Fashion Design.
The remaining 500 participants were provided with digital devices, including laptops and sewing machines. Dr. Abiola Arogundade, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on TVEE, emphasized the government's goal of fostering economic self-reliance.
The ceremony included a visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, who praised the initiative. The NPRGS will continue across Nigeria's six geopolitical zones, targeting 1,200 participants per zone.
