Court Denies Nnamdi Kanu's Transfer Request from Sokoto Jail

The Federal High Court in Abuja rejected Nnamdi Kanu's plea to move from Sokoto Correctional Centre where he is serving a life sentence for terrorism. Kanu's application, filed through his lawyer from Legal Aid Council Nigeria, was declined by Justice Omotosho on the grounds that the request in the ex parte application could not be granted.

The court adjourned the case to January 27, 2026, to allow Kanu to engage a lawyer. Despite Kanu's absence, his younger brother, Prince Emmanuel, appeared in court.

The judge emphasized the need for proper legal representation.
