Saleh Mamman Sentenced to 75 Years for Fraud

Saleh Mamman, the former Minister of Power, has been sentenced to 75 years in prison by Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja. The sentencing follows Mamman's conviction on multiple counts of fraud amounting to 33.8 billion naira.

Justice Omotosho ordered that the sentences run consecutively, totaling 75 years. The court also mandated that Mamman's arrest be executed by all security agencies, including Interpol, and that he be monitored for the recovery of properties linked to the fraud.

The court ruled that Mamman would forfeit assets to the federal government, with 22 billion naira intended for the Mambilla and Zungeru hydroelectric power projects being specifically mentioned. The sentence reflects the judiciary's stance on corruption and its commitment to holding public officials accountable for financial misconduct.
