Court Sets Dates to Conclude Corruption Case Against Former CBN Governor Emefiele

The High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Abuja has scheduled multiple hearing dates to conclude the corruption case against former Central Bank of Nigeria Governor, Godwin Emefiele. The trial, presided over by Justice Maryann Anenih, is related to Emefiele's alleged role in the Naira redesign policy.

The court set ten hearing dates starting from February 3 to June 10, 2026. The case involves allegations that Emefiele approved the redesign of the Naira notes without following due process.

The trial has seen testimonies from witnesses, including Abdulrasheed Bawa, the former chairman of the EFCC. Emefiele has pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him.

The court has emphasized the need for strict adherence to the trial schedule to ensure a smooth and timely conclusion of the case.
