Court Strikes out Charges Against Passenger Accused of Unruly Behaviour on Ibom Air Flight

The Ikeja Magistrates Court has dismissed charges against Miss Comfort Emmanson, a passenger accused of unruly behavior and assault on an Ibom Air flight from Uyo to Lagos. The court discharged Emmanson after the police withdrew the charges on Monday.

Despite being granted bail, she was unable to meet the bail conditions and was remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre until Wednesday's hearing. The police prosecutor informed the court of the decision to withdraw the charges, citing a letter from the Commissioner of Police, Lagos Airport Command.

The defense counsel opposed the application, but the magistrate confirmed the withdrawal and warned Emmanson to exercise wisdom in the future. Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, stated that the decision to drop the charges came after consultations with aviation stakeholders and public appeals, as well as Emmanson's expression of remorse.

Ibom Air also agreed to withdraw their complaint against her.
