Court Withdraws Arrest Warrant Against PDP Leader Turaki

The FCT High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has officially withdrawn the arrest warrant against Kabiru Turaki, the factional leader of the People's Democratic Party (PDP). This decision came after Turaki's lawyer, Chris Uch, made an oral application to the court, apologizing for Turaki's absence during the last court proceedings on March 26.

The judge, Peter Kekemek, vacated the warrant, noting that Turaki was ready to plead. The arrest warrant was initially issued due to Turaki's failure to appear for arraignment on charges of providing false information to the police, which stemmed from a petition submitted to the Inspector General of Police on October 5, 2022.

The case involves allegations against Turaki regarding false claims made against Said Mainasara. The judge adjourned the hearing until April 22, 2023, and noted that the motion to withdraw the arrest warrant was struck from the slate, indicating ongoing legal complexities surrounding Turaki's position as the PDP's national chairman.
