COWA Launches Climate Action Initiative Across States

The Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA) launched a structured climate action initiative across state commands, as stated by COWA leadership during a program held over the weekend. This initiative aligns with national priorities to advance the Federal Ministry of Environment's goals and the National Council on Climate Change's efforts.

The event, which took place at the Ahmadu Makarfi Hall in Gwagwalada, included senior government officials, COWA members, and representatives from the private sector and civil society. COWA President Mr.

Kikelomo Adeniyi highlighted the necessity of sustainable communities for national prosperity. The keynote address by Minister of Environment Balarab Abba Lawal praised COWA's theme of "Green Barrack, Green Border," promoting environmental stewardship.

The initiative aims to institutionalize structured environmental action across customs communities and foster strategic partnerships. Mr.

Omotenioy Majekodummi, Director General of the National Council on Climate Change, reiterated Nigeria's commitment to the Paris Agreement and achieving net-zero emissions by 2060.
