Nigeria's Junior Yellow Greens Crush Mozambique by 407 Runs

The Junior Yellow Greens of Nigeria achieved a remarkable victory in the ICC U-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup Africa Qualifier Division 2, defeating Mozambique by 407 runs at the IPRC Oval in Kigali. Nigeria set a tournament record by scoring 461 runs for the loss of six wickets in 50 overs, with Peculiar Egemasi scoring 123 runs and Edem Nyong contributing 137 not out.

Captain Ali Rahmon supported the innings with 41 runs, while Hossana Omonkhobhio added 84 runs. Mozambique's response was dismal, as they were bowled out for just 54 runs in 23 overs.

Kenneth Boniface took three wickets for 13 runs, and Princewill Chigozie claimed two wickets for eight runs. Egemasi was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance, which included three wickets for one run.

This victory positioned Nigeria second in the qualification race, with one game remaining against Sierra Leone, and secured their place in Division 1 for the next phase of the 2028 ICC Men’s U-19 T20 World Cup qualifiers.
