Crisis in Sokoto APC as defunct CPC bloc alleges marginalisation

A fresh crisis has emerged in the Sokoto State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as members of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) bloc allege marginalization within the party. During a CPC reunion meeting at Sokoto Guest Inn, group leader Hon Ibrahim Magaji Gusau claimed that despite playing a significant role in the formation and success of the APC, CPC loyalists in the state have been systematically sidelined in appointments.

Gusau highlighted unfulfilled promises made during the 2015 general election by former President Muhammadu Buhari to reward CPC loyalists with ministerial slots and other positions. The situation has heightened internal tensions within the Sokoto APC, raising concerns of a possible implosion ahead of the 2027 elections.

Analysts suggest that this crisis reflects similar complaints from CPC loyalists across northern states who feel marginalized by the dominance of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) bloc within the party. Stakeholders are urging the national chairman.
